The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is offering a training programme for review experts of the technical review of information reported in biennial reports (BRs) and national communications (NCs) by Annex I Parties, using newly enhanced training materials.
The aim of the training is to prepare experts to review information reports in Biennial Reports and National Communications submitted by Annex I parties.
The training programme consists of four courses: (1) general and cross-cutting aspects of the review of NCs and BRs; (2) technical review of targets and of policies and measures, their effects and their contribution to achieving those targets; (3) technical review of greenhouse gas emissions, emission trends, projections and the total effect of policies and measures; (4) technical review of the provision of financial support, technology transfer and capacity-building.
The on-line training programme will run in September and October 2017 and will prepare participants for the reviews of the 3rd biennial reports and 7th national communications of Annex I Parties.
The courses of the training programme are mandatory for any new expert, who has not previously participated in the technical reviews of BRs and/or NCs and the general course is mandatory for lead reviewers. The training programme was developed by the UNFCCC secretariat in accordance with decision 15/CP.20 and enhanced in accordance with the conclusions of the 46th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice. The materials of the training were enhanced on the basis of decision 24/CP.19 and 9/CP.21 and taking into account the experience gained in conducting the technical reviews of BRs and NCs since 2014. Also the user interface of the training courses was made more user-friendly.

Following completion of the on-line courses, participants will proceed to take the on-line examinations, available from 25 to 27 October 2017.
