Nigerians living in river confluence brace up for flooding

Nigeria Hydrological Agency has alerted members of the public, particularly residents near the river Niger/Benue confluence in Lokoja, Kogi state, North central Nigeria, to a rise in water level in the country.
Acting Director General of the agency, Mr Ahmed Mabudi warned that the current 10.66metres water levels in Lokoja could result in floods and called on residents in the area to be vigilant especially at night, when water levels tend to rise more.
Similarly, the ECOWAS High Commission says the ongoing discussion of Scientific and Technical Consultative Group meeting on climate Change in Abuja will help to achieve the desired impact of climatic change across the member states.
The Commissioner, Agriculture, Environment and Water Resources, Mr Sekou Sangare, said the climate change issue was a major global challenge that would require results from studies on impacts in West
Africa.
